A couple of weeks ago, I posted about some fun ideas for decorating Easter eggs with kids. We used a couple of these unique Easter egg decorating ideas to decorate our eggs, and I wanted to share the results!
Unique Easter Egg Decorating Ideas – Rice Shake Eggs
For our first set of eggs, we did the rice shake method (#3 on the image above). You simply put rice, food coloring, and a hard-boiled egg into a plastic lidded container, and have your kids gently shake it.
We found that the food coloring was quickly absorbed by the rice and didn’t fully color the egg. So we dripped in several drops of water, and then they turned out beautifully! Here’s what it looked like after shaking an egg with yellow food coloring and a tiny bit of water.
Isn’t the speckled look so unique? It was fun to experiment with mixing food dye colors too, and we only ended up with one ugly brown-ish colored egg – ha!
Unique Easter Egg Decorating Ideas – Tattooed Eggs
We then created Tattooed Easter Eggs (#2 on the image above). Taking plain hard-boiled eggs, we applied temporary tattoos that we already had on hand.
Applying tattoos to a round surface is a little tricky. So the kids chose the tattoos, and the grown-ups applied them.
Aren’t they fun? The reptile/bug theme worked great!
Have you tried any of these unique Easter egg decorating ideas? What’s your favorite way to decorate Easter eggs?
