Most families have recipes that have been handed down from one generation to the next. Those dishes that everyone looks forward to at family gatherings and that make you think of someone special. Dig out a handwritten recipe card for one of those recipes, and check out these great ideas for a handwritten recipe gift. They’re so special and meaningful, and they make great Mother’s Day gifts!
Handwritten Recipe
This all started with a recipe card from my grandmother for her coconut custard pie. She passed away in 2012, so this card is more meaningful than ever.
An Etsy shop transformed that recipe card into this beautiful kitchen towel. Isn’t that amazing? I gave one to my mom, my sister, and I had to have one for myself too! Check out all of the handwritten recipe gift ideas below! They’re easier than you’d think!
Handwritten Recipe Gift Ideas
There are many creative gifts and decor that can be made from a handwritten recipe!
#1 Handwritten Recipe Gift – Kitchen Towel
I love kitchen towels. They bring personality and color to a kitchen. For towels, there are a couple of options…
Option 1 – Use an Etsy shop. I was very happy with my Etsy towels. The seller did a wonderful job of cleaning up the recipe (removing lines, borders, etc.), and the final design was so cute!
Option 2 – Take a more DIY approach to the kitchen towels. This post does a great job of explaining all of the DIY options with photo examples, including hand-tracing and using iron-on paper. The towels the author created using a fabric printing service look fantastic!
#2 Handwritten Recipe Gift – Platter
Create a platter or dish with the recipe. Perhaps you could create a pie plate for a pie recipe, a baking dish for a casserole, etc. Or create a beautiful platter to be displayed in the kitchen.
This platter from Etsy looks fabulous, and it’s microwave- and oven-safe.
#3 Handwritten Recipe Gift – Framed Recipe
The simplest of all the options is to frame the recipe card. It would make special decor for the kitchen, breakfast room, or dining room. The site also has a free recipe card template if you want to have that special relative write out a new card.
#4 Handwritten Recipe Gift – Cutting Board
While a cutting board this special probably wouldn’t be used for cutting, it’s a meaningful way to display a recipe in the kitchen. I like the simplicity and beauty of this Etsy shop’s custom cutting boards.
There are SO MANY options on Etsy, and I highly encourage you to check it out. I’ve purchased many items from Etsy over the years, and I’ve never been disappointed. It’s a custom and hand-made gift wonderland!
Have you ever created something special with a family recipe? I’d love to hear your experiences, so please comment or reply to this post!
