Hi Laguna Lane readers! I hope you know how much I appreciate each and every one of you. There is nothing I love more than hearing about how one of my blog posts inspired you! The last few weeks have been much more hectic in our household than usual, so I thought I would show you a little more behind the scenes. So here’s life at Laguna Lane and the top three things going on in my world lately.
This is me writing this post at 10:00 pm – doesn’t get more behind the scenes than that! And yes, I made this photo small on purpose to hide my tired and nearly makeup-less face!
#1 Life at Laguna Lane – Laguna Lane Logo
I’m beyond excited to share my new logo!! Isn’t it gorgeous?
My sweet graphic designer friend crafted a meaningful logo for me, which wasn’t easy considering I didn’t know what I wanted it to look like at the beginning. But the beautiful final logo captures several elements of my blog…
- Laguna Lane Font– It’s a gorgeously imperfect font, and I think beautiful things can happen in the imperfect and the every day.
- Fingerprint Heart – I love any and all crafts that capture the small-ness of my children, and you’ve probably seen quite a few handprint and footprint craft posts here.
- Watercolor Font – I love DIY, handmade, and crafts, and the painted font represents that.
- “Making Every Day Special” Slogan – I hope that my posts help add some special touches to your every day. I focus on simpler projects that are low-cost, so anyone and everyone can do them.
P.S. If you’re looking for a talented graphic designer, let me know!
#2 Life at Laguna Lane – Getting Road Trip Ready
We’re preparing for an upcoming long-distance road trip, and I may have found my new secret weapon – portable DVD players! We tested them out on a 3 hour drive, and it was lovely not hearing any arguments over what to watch. And these volume-limiting headphones kept me from having to listen to the movies either. The kids like being able to hold the DVD players too, probably because it’s closer than the headrest.
At my local children’s consignment shop, I stocked up on DVDs for cheap – $1 to $2 each. My son in particular prefers “shows” to full-blown movies, and they had tons of shows to choose from! Between the affordable DVDs and an Amazon lightning deal on the DVD players, it was so affordable that I wish I’d done it years ago.
Surely between these and a giant grocery bag full of snacks, we’ll make it…right?! If only my kids slept in the car!
#3 Life at Laguna Lane – Kitchen Updates
After living in our house for 7 years, we’re finally making a few cosmetic changes to the kitchen that I’ve been wanting for years (7 years, to be exact – ha!). New floor, new lights, and painted cabinets will radically transform our space from dark to clean & light. I’m excited for the finished kitchen, and I feel fortunate that we can finally make these upgrades. But the day-to-day of living without a kitchen and with two small children is an adventure, to say the least!
Our kitchen currently looks like this…
And I’ll spare you the photos, but just imagine everything from our kitchen dumped into our dining room and bedroom. At least the kids think it’s a great adventure!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this peek into life at Laguna Lane. I’m looking forward to a completed kitchen and more time and attention to focus on Laguna Lane again! I’m putting together some special Mother’s Day and teacher gift ideas, and I can’t wait to share them with you in the next couple of weeks!
P.S. If you want to get a head start on Mother’s Day or End-of-Year Teacher gifts, check out my posts from previous years!
