A lot has been going on at Laguna Lane this month! Get a couple of last minute Valentine’s Day ideas and see how I’m doing with my 2019 goals. And with Valentine’s Day tomorrow, I just want to tell you how grateful I am for each of you reading my blog! xoxo
Last Minute Valentine’s Day Ideas
Valentine’s Day is tomorrow! And that’s still plenty of time to add a couple of special (and EASY!) touches to your day tomorrow.
Buy a tube of refrigerated cinnamon rolls today, and you’ll be all set to make them into cute hearts on Valentine’s Day morning! They’re so easy, you don’t even need to have a cup of coffee before you make them! Get the details here!
My kids are giving their teachers these awesome hand soaps as Valentine gifts this year. Hand soap is so useful, and if their teachers are anything like me, perhaps this one is a little bit of a splurge that they wouldn’t normally buy for themselves! A free printable “I’ve heard there is a love bug going around” tag finishes them off. So cute! Our bus driver is getting one too. It’s school bus driver appreciation week right now, after all!
You can place a “drive up” order for these soaps from Target, and you don’t even have to get out of your car. Perfect for putting together a last minute gift (totally me this year)!
Keeping 2019 Goals
Last month, I created a “9 for 2019” list of 9 goals for the new year. They aren’t big, overwhelming resolutions. Instead, they’re small, tangible goals. Check out my list and make your own! The goals I set have changed my first two months of 2019 for the better and are helping me live more intentionally. I’d encourage you to make your own list of small goals no matter where we are in the year! I’m working on all of my goals, but here are some updates on a few of them.
Goal #1 – Clean Out 5 Items from My Closet Every Month
I cleaned five items out of my closet at the end of January and put them directly in a donation box I keep in our attic. The KonMari method of going through the whole closet at once overwhelms me, and with small kids, I have trouble finding the time for that. But I can easily pull 5 things (clothes, shoes, purses, or accessories) from my closet at the end of each month. My closet will be 60 items lighter by the end of the year, and that’s exciting!
That same day while changing out the shelf liner in my bathroom cabinet, I also ended up filling up half of a garbage bag. I had no idea how badly that one cabinet needed cleaning out, but I’m loving the wiggle room in it now! Cleaning out in small doses feels so good without taking over my weekend.
Goal #3 – Staying in Touch with Friends & Family
I had a two hour phone conversation this month with a dear friend from college. What a life-giving way to spend part of an afternoon! We live halfway across the country from each other now, but we picked up right where we left off from our last (much-too-long-ago) phone call. What a beautiful way to kick off my “9 for 2019” goal #3!
I just want to encourage you to make time for yourself and the relationships that are important and life-giving to you. Don’t let life get in the way. Set a phone date with your friend just like you would set a coffee date and add it to your calendar. You won’t regret it.
Goal #7 – Complete One Photography Course Each Week
Completing one photography lesson per week is also on my “9 for 2019” list of goals . By publicly publishing my list of goals (eek!), I also found out that one of my friends has been wanting to improve her photography. So now we meet once a week to do a lesson or two. I’m held accountable to my goal and we get to spend some time together. It’s a win-win! (Apparently, I also need to take a selfie course based on my not-so-great selfie here!)
And if you happen to be interested in photography, I’m taking the Photo Fix course from the Shultz Photo School. Try out the mini course for free and see if it’s a good fit for you! There are so many great tips just in that mini course that will change the way you take photos of your kids!
Let’s live an intentional 2019 together. If you haven’t set any goals for the year yet, give yourself 30 minutes to make a list. Even just 3 small and measurable goals will change the way you go about each day. And if you’ve set goals, what one goal are you most excited about this year?
