Kids Halloween Activities – Fun Things to Do with Children!

We’re quickly approaching Halloween, so this is a great time to revisit my Kids Halloween Activities inspiration board!  And check out my “in real life” photos of these ideas below that!  You’re sure to find a fun Halloween activity to do with your kids or the kids in your life!

Kids Halloween Activities Inspiration Board

Halloween is a fun holiday with the costumes and trick-or-treating,  but it can also be a bit much for younger kids with scary decorations, difficult pumpkin carving, and frightening costumes.  I remember when our son was two years old, he would nearly cry at Home Depot when we went by the Halloween decorations area!  I rounded up six Halloween activities that make Halloween kid-friendly for kids of all ages.

  1. Pumpkin Cloud Dough – Made from 4 ingredients you probably already have at your house, this fun sensory dough smells like fall.  Budget-friendly items from the Dollar Tree like cookie cutters, mini pumpkins, ice cube trays, etc. make for great fall play. {via ElemenOPKids.com}
  2. Mummy PumpkinsWhite duct tape / gauze and googly eyes make for a pumpkin young kids can decorate themselves. {via MothersNiche.com}
  3. Mummy Hot Dogs – Hot dogs wrapped in strips of crescent roll – a fun and cute dinner!  {via OurOrdinaryLife.com}
  4. Drilled Pumpkins – Instead of carving a pumpkin with sharp knives, let the kids help you drill holes with a drill.  It’s gorgeous lit up at night! {via DesignLoveFest.com}
  5. Halloween Harvest Chex Mix – This Chex mix looks like Halloween with so many fall colors and would be a special treat!  It’s a great combination of salty and sweet!  {via OneLittleProject.com}
  6. Halloween Bingo – Free printable bingo cards to play with one child or many, and it would be a great game for any class Halloween parties {via OneCreativeMommy.com}

Kids Halloween Activities – Pumpkin Cloud Dough (#1) and Mummy Pumpkins (#2)

These projects aren’t complete yet, but I picked up some fun supplies!  The pumpkin cookie cutters on the left (or buy a big cookie cutter set from Amazon) and the spider ice tray (Dollar Tree) on the right are for the sensory bin with the pumpkin cloud dough.  And if you don’t feel like whipping up the dough, just put them in a bin with rice or beans.  It will be just as much fun!

The white duct tape and googly eyes (Dollar Tree or Amazon) are for the mummy pumpkin, and the cupcake kit is just for fun.

Kids Halloween Activities – Mummy Hot Dogs

These mummy hot dogs are easy to make, and the kids loved them!  Why slave over a hot stove for dinner when you can just make a few slices in a hot dog, wrap strips of crescent roll around them, and bake them?  Isn’t it funny how sometimes the dinners that require the least work are the ones kids love the most?

Kids Halloween Activities – Drilled Pumpkins

Look at how gorgeous this drilled pumpkin turned out!  Clean out the pumpkin as you would to carve it, and then create any pattern with various size drill bits.  We used two drill bit sizes and just eyeballed it.

The kids loved using tools to help “carve” the pumpkin.  No sharp knives needed.  This is my kind of pumpkin carving, y’all!

Kids Halloween Activities – Harvest Chex Mix

I created the Harvest Chex Mix in #5 above, and it was a hit!  Both the kids and I loved to snack on it.  I substituted pretzel chips for the mini pretzels, but otherwise I made the recipe as listed.  Delicious!
