Do you ever feel like you have about ten projects in progress but can’t seem to get anything totally completed? That’s Laguna Lane life around here lately! Since I don’t currently have a completed project to show off right now, I thought I’d give you a peek into what I’m working on and planning to share with you in the coming months. And read all the way to the bottom – I want your input and help!!
Laguna Lane Life – Where Does the Time Go?!
I get 10 kid-free hours per week as a stay-at-home mom. Perhaps I’m getting worse at time management, but I’m quite sure that there are just more demands on my time than before. My son started kindergarten last month, and I feel like there are so many more emails and papers to read, volunteer sign-ups to consider, and things to reply to. Is that just me? Sometimes, I’ll sit at my computer for an hour, and the only thing I’ve accomplished is staying on top of my most important emails. Whew!
I’m also having a harder time getting up when I set my alarm for 5:30 am, and that early morning time can be such a productive time for me. I still make a point on weekdays to get up by 6:00 am (ok, 6:15 am after I snooze twice) to read my Bible. But sleeping later has cost me 30-45 minutes of productive quiet time after I finish my Bible time.
Maybe I’m talking myself back into setting that 5:30 am alarm…
Laguna Lane Life – Projects in the Works
So here are the projects I’ve started or I’m planning to start soon.
- Creating a Lego-Themed Joint Party for My Kids – My kids are both loving Legos right now, and I’m all about DIY & budget-friendly party ideas. Stay tuned…!
- Cleaning Out Last Year’s Artwork for the Keepsake Bins – As I’ve shared before, I keep all of my kids’ artwork for the year, and then pick the best pieces at the end of that year to save in their keepsake bin.
- Making a Framed US Map Display to Track States We’ve Visited – My son has learned a lot of the states from an awesome US map puzzle. Now that we’ve done some longer road trips, I want to have a map that shows where we’ve visited.
- Organizing My Main Bathroom Drawer – Much like my junk drawers, these have become the dumping grounds of my bathroom sink area. I’m so excited to transform this drawer!
- Random Acts of Kindness Coloring Chart – I have on my heart to create a printable that motivates kids to do random acts of kindness. I’m thinking of a heart with different spots they can color in for each kind act they do.
- Updating Living Room Decor – I’m ready for a change in our living room wall decor that hasn’t changed for 7 years, so that’s on my list as well!
- Blog Posts – I just haven’t had the time to crank out lots of blog posts lately, and I’m so sorry! I love my loyal readers, and I appreciate you hanging in there with me!
I’m ready to start completing these projects and feeling accomplished! Hold me accountable please!
Laguna Lane Life – Organized Leftover Containers Drawer
I posted a photo on the Laguna Lane Facebook page that got a big response. Speaking of which, go like my Facebook page if you haven’t already. I post random photos and thoughts there that don’t make it into blog posts.
When a set of 12 glass storage containers went on sale at Sam’s Club for $20 recently (on sale until 9/16), I decided to dedicate a drawer to them and ditch nearly all of my plastic containers. The glass containers nest, and this drawer makes my Type A brain so happy! Plus, I love that I can put glass in the microwave and dishwasher and not worry about whether it’s safe. There’s a similar Glasslock set on Amazon if you’re not a Sam’s Club member.
I got such a response from this post, and I heard from multiple people who bought the set after seeing this. So cool! I just wanted to share it with my larger email readership.
Anyway, I hope this inspires you to do a little something around the house that makes you happy!
