Decorating for Cooler Weather

It may still feel like it’s 100 degrees outside (that’s literally what weather.com says right now), but once college football and school start, I consider it fall!  It’s my favorite season, and I like to enjoy my fall decorations for a few months before Christmas takes over.

If you haven’t been able to tell by now, I’m not an over-the-top decorator.  But I like a few touches of each season throughout my home, and my favorite thing to decorate is the mantel.img_2563

I have limited height to work with, since we have our TV mounted over the fireplace.  So I keep my tall candlesticks at either end to add height.  I love mercury glass, and it’s a great neutral no matter the season.  So I usually tie in a mix of these votives throughout the year.

The pumpkins and gourds are from Michael’s, and the glittery leaves at either end are from Dollar Tree.  I have a beaded garland accent that I usually put along the entire length of the mantel, but I reorganized where I usually stored it and must have put it somewhere really “smart.”  Bummer!

I also decorated the dining room table with a fall table runner (clearance TJ Maxx purchase), two artificial pumpkins (garage sale find), and a cake stand that I like to decorate with when not using it.

At Dollar Tree a few weeks ago, I bought a package of faux leaves and a few mini pumpkins, and I think it looks great inside the cake stand!

I also made spots on our living room built-ins for the UT and Alabama canvases I made a couple of months ago.  Have to cheer on our football teams!

And fall decor just isn’t complete in my home without a front door wreath!

But perhaps my favorite piece of decor is this little pumpkin in the kitchen that holds my candy corn stash.  Yum!
