I love the trend of first day of school signs! Growing up, we always took a first day of school photo at the front door with our hand on the handle, like we were ready to walk out the door. I love having a tradition for my kids too.
There are so many cute free printables for these signs, and I just thought I’d share a few of my favorites. Any of these could be printed out on cardstock, glued/taped to a popsicle stick, or placed in a photo frame.
These have a cute, handwritten chalkboard look (Burlapandblue.com).
The signs below are simple with bold, large print that would be easy to read in a photograph (Remodelaholic.com).
These signs don’t have the school year, which means you could reuse them between years. Love the arrow and font (PaperTrailDesign.com)!
The signs with more details like favorite things and future careers are always cute, and you don’t have to pay someone to make this for you! TheShadyLane.com has a free .PNG (photo file) download, to which you can add text in a photo editing software/site. Try picmonkey.com – it’s free.
If your child is too squirmy for holding a sign while posing (I know all about this), another great option is to add to text to the photo later. Take the photo with plenty of space on one side, where you can add the text in a photo editing program (picmonkey.com is free). See TheSuburbanMom.com for more tips.
I hope this provides some inspiration and a quick way to get those signs ready! Happy first day of school!
